Lübeck Germany Sights and More!

I thought about staying here at Hotel Excellent but took my chances some where else

I never knew so many of these symbols were in churches

As you have guessed, I am at the top of one of the churches

Lübeck – the former capital and Queen City of the Hanseatic League – was founded in the 12th century and prospered until the 16th century as the major trading centre for northern Europe. It has remained a centre for maritime commerce to this day, particularly with the Nordic countries. Despite the damage it suffered during the Second World War, the basic structure of the old city, consisting mainly of 15th- and 16th-century patrician residences, public monuments (the famous Holstentor brick gate), churches and salt storehouses, remains unaltered.

Today I left Sweden, by 10 was in Denmark and at 3 Germany

This is the route today: from Copenhagen to Germany. Note the blue dot. At this point the train boarded a ferry and we crossed over to Germany.

This was what our ferry looked like and there is a train on it.

Skanor-Falsterbo

Falsterbo is the best migration site in Sweden. Every autumn millions of migrating birds pass the Falsterbo peninsula. On a good day, thousands of raptors can pass through. If you like bird watching this is the place to go

There are these little beach houses by the 100’s

You can ‘bike the baltic’ if your heart so desires. There are some beautiful areas here. Trelleborgen has viking sites. There might even be Trelleborgs there!

Lund, Sweden

Lund is one of Sweden’s oldest cities. It was founded by the Danish king Sweyn Forkbeard around the year 990. Lund is strongly influenced by the university founded in 1666. It is the perfect city to discover on foot or by bike.

Lund’s Cathedral was built in the Middle Ages – it’s oldest parts are from 1085.

The astronomical clock dates from the 1440’s.

The Library – was designed in the neo-gothic style by the architect Alfred Hellerstrom and opened to the public in 1907.

The Botanical Gardens had a great old greenhouse.

Kulturen is an outdoor museum from the Middle Ages to the 1930’s.

I know this doesn’t look like much but it is the sight you see when you come out of the train station. Very serene except usually with bicycles and some cars.

Øresund Bridge: The crossing is completed by the 4-kilometre (2.5 mi) Drogden Tunnel from Peberholm to the Danish island of Amager.
